After six long years, the Trustees’ are pleased to announce that our efforts to obtain funding to restore the Deal Lake Retaining Wall have been successful. The Village will receive $2M in total, with 75% from the State ($1.55M) and 25% from the Village ($512K). NEIGHBOORHOOD WATCH

It was 2:30 AM on Friday, June 4th when he was awakened from his sleep by the muffled sounds that filtered in through his open bedroom window. The decoded message was ominous enough to warrant full alertness and a call to the Ocean Township Police Department. “Do you find any open doors?” the mysterious voice asked his cohorts as they walked by the resident’s front porch. By the time our now wide-awake block leader of our Neighborhood Watch got dressed and opened his front door, two patrol cars and an unmarked car greeted him. The search for the culprits was unsuccessful; however, a probable break-in was prevented.

Actions such as Ed Lee’s highlight the purpose of the Neighborhood Watch recently reactivated by Detective Matt Jackiewicz of the Ocean Township Police Department and Lou Parisi, a long-time Village resident. Presently, more than thirty homeowners and their families have formally registered a willingness to be the eyes and ears of our community. Their roll is simple enough: an increased alertness that signals a call to the police when ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY is observed. For more information on joining your neighbors of our collective safety, call Lou Parisi at 732.531.8098.

Summer’s Here……DID YOU KNOW…?

Quality of life is important to everyone, so please be considerate of your neighbors…

Keep the volume of your radios and televisions down as low as possible for your enjoyment and the peace and quiet of your neighbors. It is a violation of Village Ordinance No.27 if the sounds from these devices are plainly audible at a distance of fifty feet from the building, structure or vehicle in which it is located.

Parking is prohibited on lawns or on required areas for front, side and rear yards. (Ordinance No. 156, Section 704.E.8)

Please ask your guests not to honk their horn or leave their vehicles running when they stop by for a visit – the noise is disruptive, it pollutes the air and is a waste of an important commodity.

The noise associated with the construction, demolition or alteration of buildings is limited to WEEKDAYS BETWEEN 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM only. CONSTRUCTION NOISE IS NOT PERMITTED FROM FRIDAY evening at 6:00 PM THROUGH MONDAY morning at 7:00 AM, inclusive. Please be considerate of your neighbors and abide by the restrictions per our Ordinance No. 27.

Grass and weeds must be cut when they reach 10” in height. It is also the property owners’ responsibility to keep sidewalks and curbs clean and free of debris (Ordinance No. 296)

All yard waste (grass clippings, brush, leaves, branches, etc.) MUST be containerized for pick-up with household trash on Tuesday and Friday. DO NOT LEAVE THIS DEBRIS AT THE CURB; it contributes to the pollution in our Lake and at the beachfront. Please advise your landscapers that compliance is required. (Ordinance No. 324)

A Certificate of Occupancy is required for every change of tenancy or property ownership. (Ordinance No. 201)

Zoning approval is required before a building permit can be issued for improvements such as pools, decks, patios, paver installation and fences. (Ordinance No. 156)

Recycling is mandatory in the Village. Pick-ups are scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Wednesday from the curb. (Ordinance No. 250)

Minors cannot purchase, consume or be served alcohol in the Village. No one can carry an open container of alcohol. (Ordinance No. 211)

Ordinance No. 314 prohibits indecent exposure of one’s private parts, urinating or defecating in public places or on private property, and prohibits bringing, consuming or possessing an open container of alcohol within the Village except those places covered by an alcohol consumption license issued pursuant to Title 13 or where consumption of malt alcohol is permitted by N.J.S.A. 2C:33-27.

Smoking is prohibited at the Village Beach and in the parking lot pursuant to Ordinance No. 326.

Village Ordinance No. 276 requires that:

Dogs are NOT permitted on ANY beach property in the Village from May 15 to September 15 (Village Ordinance No. 355).

I bring these items to your attention because there is a continuing problem with dogs running loose and menacing other residents, as well as with animal waste on our streets. PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE of your neighbors – keep your dog under control at all times.

Thank you for your consideration and your cooperation.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Village Clerk at 531-4740.
